Gold Cluster Excellence Manager
Gold Cluster Excellence Manager is the most comprehensive programme scheduled for 2016-17 that is meant for professionals and practitioners who work in economic cluster related fields such as cluster management or policy development. This program bridges the gap between policy and practice while giving participants real life skills in using clusters to promote regional and local competitiveness and business growth.
The program is designed to allow participants to engage in a practical fieldwork project throughout the course as well as experiencing the core modular base that is structured on ECEI mandated principles. Taking place over a six-month period, the training programme has five in-class training weeks held in Barcelona (or an otherwise negotiated location). The core content is made up of the same five integrated modules also taught in our Essence of Cluster Excellence Management and Train-the-Trainers programmes.
Core Programme Modules
- Cluster Economics
- Cluster Initiative Screening
- Industry Analysis and Segmentation
- Value Chain Analysis
- Benchmarking and Internationalization of SMEs
This core forms the basis on which practical skills and the knowledge required to support and develop clusters can be built upon. Included are three electives which are individually chosen by participants, which are designed to supplement the core modules in a practical way.
After full participation in the classroom-based training sessions and successful completion of their field-project, participants will qualify as Gold Cluster Excellence Managers. The candidates will be evaluated individually, however in order to qualify for their certificate they will need to complete their field-project in teams of up to three people.
The field-project takes place throughout the six months and is continually carried out while participants are back in their home regions. During the five in-class weeks in Barcelona, teams have the chance to learn from other groups, while brainstorming and deliberating on progress made.
